Description
The word “oxymel” comes from ancient Greek and means “sour honey”. Historical evidence tells us that Hippocrates used it to treat his patients, recommending it both orally and externally. The exact recipe is not known, but it is assumed that it was an infusion of medicinal herbs in natural wine vinegar and honey – because both of these products are able to extract and preserve the healing properties of natural products. Dole’s Oxymel contains relatively little honey, as it is high in sugar, the amount of which we want to reduce for health reasons. Oxymel is usually taken one tablespoon per glass of warm water – often in the morning, but it can also be used as an additive to salad dressings, smoothies, porridge or healthy pudding. If you are feeling tired, you can take up to three tablespoons of Oxymel per day on certain days. Like all of our apple cider vinegar infusions, regular use of oxymel also improves health, especially when combined with a healthy lifestyle and diet.
